John & Kizzie Family Pictures:

Portions of this original post have been removed and reposted as they were identified as belonging with other pictures. (click here to view that post)

This post has also been updated 6-28-13.

Have received over a hundred pictures from Mary Catherine & JL since the reunion last month (Oct. 2011). Still going through the process of organizing them and need help on some identification.

Reducing Confusion: Even for the ‘1st Cousins’, who is who, can some times stop a conversation to clear up ‘which who’ are we talking about. So keep in mind there has been more than 3 Les’s (Uncle Les, his uncle Lester Comer and his Aunt Leslie), and too many Johns, Jessie, etc. Among these pictures: Jesse Davis m. Letha Mae Littrell sister of Jessie Littrell; The ‘Littrell Sisters’ are the daughters of Grandpa John’s brother James Littrell; and Viola m.Jessie Littrell brother of Viola Littrell-Johnston usually referred to as ‘Sis’.

Untitled-Scanned-04 1. Jesse, Pam, Joyce and Bertha? or is that Onene?  Where and when?  note: this picture and its comment were moved here from another post/article that became outdated and was deleted.   GlennDL

Mary Cathrine Littrell - Cook said... I guess my other post didn't get saved. So here it is again. The picture with Grandma(Kizzie) and the kids. I am almost positive the little girl on the left is Sheila the girl on the right is me( Mary Catherine) the taller boy with what looks like a rifle or shotgun is Billy Davis and the boy in front of (Kizzie) is possibly Jerry Davis. I am going to say it was taken at John & Kizzie's at East Prairie maybe around 1955 or 56.   November 6, 2011  Pic 18 (2)6). Fishing on the river: Maybe Noble on the right, the person on the left ???, Les behind him. No idea on the person in the dark shirt.

If you can help with any information on these pictures send it to me by email, OR… you can leave it here on the website, which is better because then everyone can see it and either confirm or dispute it. Disputing it isn’t bad because we want to be sure, or to know if we are unsure. Its also better because we don’t have to worry about me getting around to transferring your information from your email to here. See the note below Letha Mae’s family picture

  1. In picture #4 the woman setting by Noble looks like Evelyn- Les's wife. The woman by Les looks like Evely sp? Noble's wife. But I am not absoloutly positive.

  2. As far as the dates on the pictures they may have been developed at different times. They may be from 2 different cameras or different rolls of film. As back then most cameras were about the same. In picture #4 I meant Ezzely not Evely.

  3. I think your right on all counts. The inverted dates probably mean the same company developed the pictures though. Or it could mean the same person took the pictures and held the camera upside down? Nah, nobody in this bunch right, lol.

The reunion being in August or earlier makes more since too, considering the dress of everyone and the large number of children present.

  4. Picture #7 is a cousin to Our Dads. She is one of the Littrell girls from around Sikeston, I believe her name is Alvine Littrell- ? I cannot remember her married name at this time, but if I remember it I will let you know.

  5. The woman in picture #8 is my Mom, Betty Jane Nelson, Littrell, Smith. I don't know the year but I will ask Mom and let you know.

  6. Picture 7) Your right, I didn't recognize her because she's much younger than when I first met her in the mid-90s. Her name is Auvine (Littrell) Lynxwiler, one of what Bertha, Onene, myself and others refered to as the 'Littrell sisters' because at the time only the sisters were still living. I believe Auvine (the oldest) has passed and some say there is one sister left (Rachel(?) remaining in Sikeston), but there was also a sister in Florida that many in our branch often forget about. They were the children of James Caroll Littrell and Donie (Ezell) Littrell. James migrated his family to MO before Grandpa John. Donie was Kizzie's first cousin.

Glenn Fredie Guy called me and he recognizes some of the people in pictures In picture #9 he says the man sitting in the chair is probaly Uncle Jess and the girl posing he thinks is Christine- Uncle Jess's daughter. He said he remembers Jess wearing hats all the time. Then the picture of 4 kids is the one with the hat on is Vonne (Jess son)the one squatted down is Malcolm, and the other boy on the left is Gary Littrell, but the little girl he nor I could figure out who she is. He also noticed you had the acreage wrong of his place in Grandin it's 90 acres instead of 3. He also seen where you had his name spelled wrong It is spelled Fredie with 1 d instead of 2 D'S. He just got a chance to veiw the website, because he doesn't have a computer. Hope we were some help to you.
