1st Annual John & Kizzie Comer) Littrell Family Reunion: 2011 Videos (3)

We had a lot of fun and joked, sang, clowned around and told stories. A foul word may have been said here or there, but never in malice, anger or a degrading fashion. I have tried to exclude them whenever possible but sometimes they may have been relevant to the story or event. If this concerns you you may wish to review all the videos before letting children see them. Some of the stories may at first appear a little embarrassing but looking at them from a distant timeline we should view them as enlightening and reflecting the varied character of our family. Nothing to be ashamed of. Some at the reunion may have acted a little silly, slurred a word, stumbled on a joke, exaggerated a story or doubled a fact… but that’s what happens at reunions… they’re supposed to be more fun than a funeral.

If anyone has a problem with appearing in the video please advise me and I will see what I can do, but I think that everyone will be pleased with what has been included.

  1. For those of you knew to video viewing there is a symbol in the bottom right corner of the video, four outward pointing arrows, next to the words YouTube. Click it to watch the video in full screen mode.

  2. To be clear, what we are talking about in this part of the video is two separate thing: 1.) John and Kizzie had a store in Tennessee which eventually failed. The failure of the store, Grandpa John had an affair with a married women and the family's moon-shining adventures have all three been cited as reasons the family left Tennessee so quickly to join John's brother (James) in Missouri.
2.) The family lived for a time in Anniston, Missouri where evidently 'Red' had a diner which Les and Evelyn eventually took over. I got this story from Onene in the later years before her Alzheimer kicked in. She said Red and Les had a dinner and a theater there. Onene often-ed underestimated her memory for such things and usually left the story telling up to dad (JD) and Red so when she revealed something it was hard to question her on the story or pursue it at a later date. JL said he would ask Evelyn about it.
Hopefully we can get more information and discussions at next years reunion.
